Mr Andrew Quaile is Consultant Spinal Orthopaedic Surgeon and Medical Director of Spineworks Ltd, a private orthopaedic spine practice, which aims to provide the highest quality of care and treatment to patients with back and neck problems
Mr Quaile qualified from Charing Cross Hospital in 1978 and spent a number of years practising medicine in the Royal Navy. Then joining the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, he went on to complete his orthopaedic surgical training at Southampton General Hospital, in the UK. On accreditation as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 1992 he developed his career in Australia initially as a Consultant in Orthopaedics in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, as a Lt. Colonel, and thereafter in full time private practice with a special interest in spines based at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital in Brisbane.
On his return to the United Kingdom in 1996, Mr Quaile took up a Consultant post in general orthopaedics, with a special interest in spines, at the East Somerset Trust for two years. In October 1998 he was appointed Consultant Spinal & Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Frimley Park Hospital NHS Trust, Frimley, Surrey. His practice was almost exclusively that of spinal disorders. In 2003 Mr Quaile moved into full time private practice with the aim of developing a multi-disciplinary team of specialists committed to providing high quality care to their patients.
Since 2013 Mr Quaile has specialized in the non-operative treatment of spines. Should surgery be required then he is happy to refer to one of his colleagues and has good links with surgeons locally and in London and Southampton. He holds monthly clinical meetings, ensuring best practice at BMI Hampshire clinic hospital. He also regularly lectures at meetings, seminars and conferences to medical colleagues & allied health practitioners.
Mr Quaile is an international examiner in Orthopaedic Surgery for the Société Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie (SICOT) and occasional lecturer in spinal surgery on the South Thames training circuit. Being committed to education, he organises and hosts Spineworks complimentary conferences every year with the aim of updating allied health practitioners and medical & nursing colleagues on advances in treatment of the spine. He himself keeps up to date by attending courses throughout each year for continuing practice development.
Mr Quaile is Associate Editor for the Journal of International Orthopaedics. He reviews, amends and approves articles for publication in the magazine.
In September 2008 he was a finalist in the Independent Health Care Awards, held in London, in the category Best Medical Practice. Previously he has been medical advisor to the Back Show Exhibition held annually in the UK and has advised BMI Healthcare on spinal services over the years. Mr Quaile is a founder member of the South East Spine Club, which meets annually. It provides an opportunity for spinal surgeons in the South to present papers, discuss advances in spinal surgery and review difficult cases.
Andrew is happily married to Debs and they have three grown up sons. He spends much of his spare time in France, where he is busily involved in house restoration & managing the ancient woodland. His hobbies are many and varied and together with his family he also enjoys walking, music, rugby union and last but certainly not least, sampling Bordeaux wine!
